CAMERON HIGHLANDS: MGB Bhd is expanding its property development business with the launch of StarLight Residences, marking its first project in the highlands and on the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia.

The project has an estimated gross development value (GDV) of RM129.9 million and comprises 270 serviced apartments and two retail units.

MGB Group executive chairman Tan Sri Dr Lim Hock San said the development marked another step in the group's efforts to expand its property portfolio through strategic locations.

"StarLight Residences marks MGB's first development in Cameron Highlands and represents another step forward in expanding our property development portfolio," he said at the launch ceremony at the StarLight Residences sales gallery here.

Also present were MGB executive director and chief executive officer Datuk Richard Lim Lit Chek; executive director and deputy chief executive officer Isaac Lim Kim Hoe; and deputy chief executive officers Victor Wong Tack Leong and Daniel Chew Wee Seong.

He said Cameron Highlands remained one of Malaysia's established tourism destinations, supported by its cool climate, scenic surroundings and year-round appeal.

"StarLight Residences aims to introduce a development that combines a strategic location, practical layouts and lifestyle facilities that complement the unique character of the highlands," he said.

The low-density development is being built on a 0.76-hectare site and is expected to be completed by July 2029.

It is strategically located next to the Cameron Highlands Night Market and near the Cameron Highlands Golf Course.

The development is also within easy reach of several tourist attractions, including the BOH Tea Centre, Lavender Garden and Cameron Centrum.

The serviced apartments comprise three unit types, ranging from 550 sq ft to 938 sq ft, with selling prices starting from RM398,000.

The project also includes two retail units measuring 1,561 sq ft and 1,755 sq ft, with prices starting from RM1.14 million.

He said the serviced apartments would feature dual-key layouts, providing greater flexibility for owners and investors.

"The development will offer a range of lifestyle facilities, including the Starlight Garden, Twilight Pavilion, Twilight Glass House, Stargazing Deck and barbecue area.

"Other facilities include a yoga deck, Starlight Fit and a playground, designed to complement the lifestyle and holiday appeal of Cameron Highlands," he said.

Lim said MGB would continue to identify opportunities in strategic locations as it sought to grow its property development portfolio.

He said the group remained focused on delivering well-planned developments that met the needs of homeowners while creating sustainable value for purchasers, stakeholders and the surrounding community.
